Try to think from the customer’s perspective. Put yourself in their shoes and then imagine what you would have typed in order to search for a specific product/service. Then relate that with your own business and try to identify the most potent keywords. Make a list containing all the words that are relevant to your business. This would include the name of your business, product names (brand as well as generic) and geographic name of the place that you serve. Variations of the same word need to be present (like “dogs”,”dog”,”doggie”) and also misspelt variations of the important keywords. When developing the keyword list, consider all the variations possible of the keywords that your prospect/customer is likely to use. Prepare a comprehensive list while still retaining those keywords which are pertinent to your business. After the extensive list has been completed, you can assign a comparative ranking to the keywords based upon their relevance to your product/service.
